Finally! Something to write about!
There's two big stories here:
The first is that it's Mardi Gras weekend and I am not really feeling it... there's an emptyness, a feeling of the blues. That's both good and bad. I really miss being in New Orleans this weekend (and Monday and Fat Tuesday), but I know it ain't right yet.
The second story is that in about two weeks, I will be in Orlando in a great big house with my entire family! My Dad, my sister and her partner Chris, my brother and his wife, Kris and my niece and nephew, and also, my brother's good friend from work some years ago, Judy, who I love. The house is huge and has an enclosed pool and hot tub and all of the other rental amenities that one might need. It's going to be great!
Last year we went to the Disney "Pirates and Princess Party", a Magic Kingdom night time special event and we had a wonderful time. We are going to do it again this year and I think it will be more fun than last year. I'm looking at getting t-shirts for all of us, or perhaps just getting a huge princess costume just for me... It's a good party. Last year I thought that it would all be kids in costumes, but the adults out numbered the kids, especially in the pirate category.
It costs a lot to do, but it's pretty cool to be in the Magic Kingdom at night and the fireworks are truly stunning! I mean, totally amazing! It was a lot of fun last year and I think it will be even better this year as we will know our way around. I've got a new very compact video camera to capture all of the fun, so there will be movies!
I've been so busy these last two months!
The holidays were crazy at work, but I managed things well and my team performed quite well. I just didn't always get all that many days off.
I did get X-mas day off and the day after and I made it to luca's house for a Christmas day dinner. Luca did his best, as always, and I brought another Molly Ducker wine; "The Boxer" and it was great.
Luca and I have done a few days together since then; one day we had lunch and then went down to the Strip to see the new addition to the Venetian, called the Pallazo and it was all right... Then we went down to the old downtown area, to the Main Street casino. Luca played slots for 5 minutes and won $45. I played slots for 3 minutes and won $30 and that was the end of our huge gambling spree! Then we went to Starbucks and had coffee drinks, (quelle suprise!) while luca made small videos on his new Flip video cam. I was so impressed with his mini videos that a got a FlipCam for my own self.
As soon as I figure out how to post my little videos here, you will see them. OMG! Will I sound as gay as pebbles?! very likely....
Work has been very busy, I worked all but one of the last fifteen days. That's unusual, but it just happened. One of the days was spent in L.A. and two of the days were at the Wild Oats stores that we are in the process of converting to WFM stores. It was all very interesting and mostly enjoyable.
I just finished reading a book, "The Kite Runners" which has been made into a film, I hear. It's a heart breaking story of the things that happened in Afghanistan over the last 40 years with very sharp view of what he Taliban was doing. I recommend it to you.
That's it for now, until I figure out how to post the videos from the new tiny little cam.
