The Easter Parade!

Well, the Gay Easter Parade...

It was quite a large crowd for what turned out to be a rather large parade. A few years ago, it was only a few mule drawn carraiges. This year there were many of those, quite a few convertibles and pickup trucks and some very large things that looked like big old trolley cars pulled by pairs of huge horses, you know, like those Budweiser horses.

Of course, now all gay parades begin with motorcycles and this one was no exception. The lesbians were first in line on the Harlies, but the men were not far behind with their finery... Next year I am going to ride on my scooter, but like a totally Fellini looking babe! You just wait...

There's always a brass band.

Two very good drag queens and a very ethereal boy...

Just like any parade in New Orleans, poeple screamed and scrambled for beads.

The Gay Easter Parade is just a lot of fun. I'm sure that there are some who would find the whole business irreligious, if not terribly blasphemous, but this is the kind of Easter parade where everyone struts in their fancy outfits; it's a pagan event more in line with the Easter bunny than the end of "holy week".

But of course, in New Orleans, we never totally escape that spiritual connection. Mardi Gras and Easter are bookends for Lent; Easter Sunday is the first day for everyone to let loose after forty days of relative quiet, (with the exceptions of St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's day parades, so Lent here is really only about ten days long with lots of breaks). This is a very religious sort of town, but it's so culturally diverse in nature that a lot of things tend to melt together. And that's a good thing.

I'm working on the new location and things are going well. It is going to be an amazing store! The team is coming together well and the next few weeks are going to be frantically busy, but wonderful.

Crackberry!

Yea, I got a Blackberry and I luf it like a pig lufs mud! The one I have, the 7100g is the best cell phone that I've ever had and also the best PDA I've ever had; it does everything I need right now and does it well. You can e-mail me at duberry@durlx.com it's a mobile addy.

If you know me at all, you know that this makes me wet...

My family comes to visit soon, strange that they happen to show up during Jazz Fest, hehe. But that's great. And I am going to get to see my niece and nephew and that makes Uncle Bunny very happy...
