Party!

So. I went to another party tonight. This one was in a very, very lovely French Quarter house, and located on a "key lot". It takes a long time to explain what a key lot is, so e-mail me if you are interested, otherwise, just understand that this is a house with major real estate value.

Robert and I walked over there from our humble abodes in the Marigny and when we got there I had to use the facilites...

The entire bathroom was done in marble....

Anyway, at the party we ran into the fabulous George and the amazing Michelle from the Sunday morning coffee group!

And we thought we were looped! hehe.

It's been a very good evening; I did have a good time at the party, although there were way too many "a" gays there, (actually waaaaay to many "b" gays). (Oh wait, I'm a "b" gay, hahahahahaha!) Anyway, it was a rather lovely house, and a nice enough party. I did take some time talking to the hosts about the delightful things I will have to offer in the new store...

The new store... it is going to be amazing! It's a beautiful (stunning!) retail space and we have the most amazing products; in the specialties department we have the most incredible imported cheeses, olives, wines, beers, and things like tomato jam, quince paste, compressed full fruit bars, meats, (a fabulous proscuitto!) pates and hundreds of other esoteric delights. (The Marcona almonds from Spain are soooo good!)

Also, the people we have hired are clickin'! We have had two informal wine tastings in the last two Fridays. It was optional for Team Members, but all the good people showed. And they clicked; everyone talking about how something tasted, and excited and happy to find someone who felt the same way.

It's great, all I have to do is watch and listen... and then make the schedules. Then walk these children on the sales floor and introduce them to the folks, let them loose with their food passion...

(hey...always smile at the baby, if the mother is in a bad mood...)

I am working for such a great company... for the next ten days, we have a massuesse on the premises for free! After we open on Dec. 4th, he will start charging; a dollar an minute for customers. 50 cents an minute for employees.

I am so there...

Abducted by the Wienermobile!

The reason I haven't been able to update the journal lately is that I was abducted by a strange wiener cult and forced to ride around the country with them in their wienermobile and join them in celebrating bizarre wiener-centric rites!

Or would you believe that the dog ate my hard drive...

The True Story.

I've moved up the ladder a bit a work and am presently involved in opening one of the preimer retail grocery outlets in the New Orleans area, (or in the south, for that matter). For the last 20 days, I have been finishing my commitments at the old store and working the rest of the time on the new one. I've had one day off during this time and have been putting in some long days, including working at home. I'm not complaining... this is all very exciting and interesting work and very much what I want to be doing right now. The opening team that I'm working with is chock full of talented people and the regional support team is amazing. When the store opens on December 4, the people of this town will be stunned; there is simply nothing else to compare to it. The challenges that are coming up in the next two months are huge, but I am up for it. It will be an exciting time for me and the rewards will be great.

I am having the time of my life.

...I'll try and keep you updated as best I can... in the mean time, I am checking the boards every day and I'll try to get to chat every once in a while... and of course, I'll see everyone in Vegas!
