A Visit From The Boys From Oz.
David and Glennie from Australia arrived Tuesday and it was good indeed to see them again! Tuesday night we went out for dinner at a local place, Bayou BarBQue and had some sandwiches and then an early night to bed as everyone had been up since the early hours of the morning. Wednesday, we started the day by visiting the market where I work for some goodies, then went to Albertson's for more conventional groceries, stopped for a guilty pleasure lunch of Popeye's Fried Chicken and then hit a wonderful Vietnamese market on the West Bank.
Davo shopping for just the right bottle of fish sauce.
Glennie...
This market has a butcher shop
It might seem odd to you that we spent most of the day swanning around in grocery stores and markets, but we are all greatly amused by this sort of activity. We all love food and find it endlessly fascinating.
After putting the groceries away, we took off for a walk in the Quarter.
Glennie and durlx.
A display in one of the junky souvenir shops
We passed through Harrah's casino...
We stopped at Poverty Barn where I took a nap in a $2000 leather recliner.
And finally headed home.
We've been drinking coffee every morning and talking, talking, talking. Went for a picnic Thursday, and yesterday evening we went out for gourmet pizzas and then hit the fruit loop in the Quarter; unfortunately there was not much going on, everyone was partied out from last weekend, but we had a good time anyway. Today I'm working and the boys will amuse themselves. Tomorrow morning, we are going to coffee at Virgil's.
More to come... including luca!
